The Metropolis Wine Club (Est. 2001) is a popular monthly wine-tasting, social networking event that is usually scheduled, with rare exception, on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at various locations in the City. This is an informal event and no knowledge of wine, cork sniffing techniques or lingo is needed.
We usually meet in unique locations such as lofts, mansions, condos, rooftops, rehabbed houses, art galleries, recording studios, museums, and event spaces. Occasionally we meet in businesses that sell wine such as new wine bars or restaurants. If it is in a home or alternative space, the host chooses a theme (type of wine) and each participant is asked to bring a bottle of that type of wine or a plate of appetizers to share. If it is in a wine bar or restaurant that is providing the wine, we charge a nominal admission fee to cover the costs of the wines provided for tasting and some food. All events take place within the City Limits of St. Louis in venues that most people would not normally know about or be able to enter on their own..
Reservations are always required. An invitation with all the details is e-mailed to our mailing list and posted to Facebook about a week before the event at which time you can RSVP. We will also post the event details on the calendar. We generally can accommodate around 100 people, depending on the location. We also ask for volunteers at each event to help register guests and pour wine. For questions or if you would like to host an event at your home or business (it’s great promotion!), contact us at Email: wineclub @rvstl.org if you would like to receive e-mail invitations.
