Join us at our next Metropolis Wine Club on South Grand!

This month our wine club will gather in a soon to open restaruant being added to the vibrant culinary hub of the cultural diverse South Grand neighborhood. Renovating the vacant space that once housed Verve Salon, Cafe Mochi owner Victor Pham is opening an international fusion resturant called VP SQUARE.  Per Sauce Magazines’ article about Pham’s new venture “the current plans call for opening up part of  the building’s second floor for an atrium-type feel for first-floor diners. When complete, the restaurant will accommodate around 100 diners.” So grab your friends, a bottle of wine per our unique wine program celebrating South Grand and join us for a sneak peek of this new restaurant space before it is open to the public!

Location Notes:

Just south of the intersection of Grand and Arsenal starts the hub of the of St. Louis International Community. Home to rich cultural events, convenient services and flourishing shops, South Grand is an affordable, safe and fun place to play, work and live.  Where else in the city can you find a vegetarian-friendly café, an award-winning Vietnamese restaurant, a hip martini bar and neighborhood pharmacy all in the same block?

South Grand is home to restaurants with authentic cuisine from around the world. It’s international community spans 14 countries; Thailand, China, Japan, Vietnam, Italy, Morocco, Ethiopian, Lebanon, Persia, France, Brazil, Turkey, Philippines and USA.  South Grand is also home to eclectic shops that pride themselves on sustainability from a used bookstore to an upcycle shop and vintage furniture and clothing to recycled treasurers from across the ocean.  Through food or shopping visitors can cover much of the globe in only 6 blocks.

Winner of the 2015 Great Street Award from the American Planning Association Missouri Chapter, South Grand represents what a perfect diverse community should be.  For more information check out their website

Wine Program for the evening:

We are flinging the doors wide open for this month’s wine program!

To celebrate the cultural diversity of our host neighborhood we are asking guests to bring a bottle of wine from a part of the world that containes one of the 13 forigen countries whose cuisine is found within South Grand’s vibrant restaurant scene.  These areas of world include: South America, Asia, Africa, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Europe. We hope you can use this month’s wine club to step outside your comfort zone and hunt for a wine from one of the more exotic locations.

Don’t know where to go to find wine from countries other than Europe?  Check out these local St. Louis shops who have a few selections from these exotic locations.

Guests who bring a bottle of wine from one of the specific countries that represent a restraurant along South Grand: Thailand, China, Japan (no sake), Vietnam, Morocco, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Persia (Iran), Brazil, Turkey, or the Philippines, will be entered into a raffle to win one $25 dinning gift certficate from a South Grand restaurant!

We could use several volunteers to check people in, set up, clean up, and pour wine. It’s a great way to meet everyone at the event. If you would like one of these opportunities, and can get there at 5:30 pm, contact us at ASAP.

Parking on South Grand plentiful and easy. Besides street parking there is a large lot behind the Commerce Bank that is free.  If you park on Grand remember that prior to 7pm you will need to pay, so please plan accordingly.
